Hi all, just in case you are watching we are in Amarillo - or a little East of Amarillo on the way to visit my family in Texas.

I'm not gone, just traveling and don't really feel like "scaping" in the RV by the time I'm ready to fix dinner.

Am getting quite of bit of needlepoint done - perfect to do during the drive as the needle is not sharp!!!

thanks for stopping by.

Simple Supper on the Deck

Finally the weather is conducive for an early dinner on the deck.   It's not going to last, so we're going to take advantage of it while we can.

I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.  There are so many beautiful tablesettings that are posted there you can't help but be inspired.

Family was here and none of us wanted to cook, so we ordered pizza.  It was great to enjoy the fresh air and warm sunshine with loved ones.  Nothing fancy, but I didn't want to use paper plates since we were all together.

I've had this tablecloth for many years.  In fact, I have a couple of them for some reason.

Plates from Dollar Tree and grey water glasses I've had forever.

Napkins are also ages old.

The little grandgirl loves pizza (just like her Mom) so, of course she is joining us.

With the fresh peaches all over, a cobbler (with ice cream of course) was definitely in order.

Thanks for joining me for this extremely casual supper.

All Those Embroidery Projects

I really enjoy needlework, embroidery in particular.  I'm by no means an expert at it, but I do enjoy it.  One of the problems is what to do with all the "stuff", handkerchiefs, tea towels, luncheon napkins, etc. that my friends and relatives are sick of receiving.  Admittedly, hand embroidery is somewhat out of fashion these days with all the beautiful and perfect machine stuff out there.

My MIL does crafts for her church to sell in their Christmas time bazaar so I decided that would be a great place for me to send some of the things I have done.

Since I follow a couple of stitchery blogs I have been wanting to post some of my work, mostly to get advice, tips and constructive criticism.  There are some incredibly talents stitchers out there.

These are a trio of handkerchiefs I finished off with a crochet edging.

They were a good way to get back into the swing of things.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you have a great Holiday Weekend.

Hydrangea Inspiration

I was so inspired by the hydrangeas in recent posts that I had to pull them inside and set a table.  They have turned from a bright fushia pink to this lovely mauvey color.

This weeks post for Tablescape Thursday pulls out all the purple I own!

I used a green sheer piece of material over a plain white tablecloth to bring out the green in the dishes.

A greenish urn worked perfectly for the flowers which, of course, will come off the table during dinner.

The plates are 222 Fifth in their "Gabrielle" pattern picked up at Marshall's over the last year;
the purple goblets were a Good Will find for about $1.00 each;
the pieces are silver are from my thrift finds collected over many years;
the flatware is Reed and Barton "Francis 1";
the flowers are from my yard.

On update on the hydrangeas, they are turning a dusty lavender color so I'm sure I'll use them again before long.

Thanks so much for visiting me.

Don't forget to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for her wonderful blog, and for all the lovely tablescapes that are posted for Tablescape Thursday
